Lisa Rose
Lisa Rose started her philanthropic journey in 2008 with a clear mission: to help women discover their purpose and build sustainable lives. She began by creating First Friday, a monthly speaker series that attracted nearly 400 women and featured local and national experts who addressed real-life challenges. This initiative inspired her vision to provide women with a dignified, long-term path out of crisis.
Recognizing the gap between short-term services and lasting change, Rose focused her work on supporting women impacted by domestic violence and poverty—issues she deeply understood. In 2011, she founded projectHandUp, which led to the creation of The Gatehouse in 2015. Today, The Gatehouse is a 61-acre, privately-funded supportive living community in Grapevine, Texas that serves approximately 85 women and 150 children at a time. The campus offers fully-furnished apartments, onsite childcare, counseling, life coaching, career development, a general store, Keeps Boutique, and Hope Chapel.
Over the past decade, The Gatehouse has empowered more than 800 women and their children to break cycles of abuse and poverty, providing the tools and resources needed for permanent self-sufficiency. Unlike traditional shelters, The Gatehouse offers a comprehensive, faith-based program that bridges the gap between crisis intervention and lifelong transformation.
Rose's unwavering commitment has created a model of hope and empowerment. Her vision and leadership have transformed The Gatehouse into a beacon of dignity, healing, and opportunity for women and children across North Texas.
