Agent: Texans' Johnson reporting Thursday, contract talks Friday

Four-time wide receiver will report to the Texans' workout Thursday despite his contract dispute with the team, his uncle and agent, Andre Melton,

Melton told The Associated Press that a Wednesday meeting with the Texans' front office went "extremely well" and Johnson was "dying to get back." The agent also said he'll meet with Texans general manager Rick Smith on Friday and hopes the sides can come to a resolution, the Chronicle reported.

"I think we can work something out that'll be a win-win situation for everybody," Melton said.

Johnson has missed the team's three previous voluntary workouts because he's unhappy with his contract. He has five years left on an eight-year deal worth $60 million, including $15 million in guarantees.

By comparison, Miami Dolphins wide receiver , a two-time Pro Bowl pick, recently signed a five-year, $47.3 million deal.

Johnson, the No. 3 overall draft pick by the Texans in 2003, has become one of the NFL's marquee receivers, recording back-to-back 1,500-yard receiving seasons. The Texans had the league's top-ranked passing offense last season, with Johnson the top target.
