Austin Collie stayed healthy in his return to the NFL, which was a great sign considering all the concussion problems he's had in his career. Collie's form on the field, however, was not what it used to be.
Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee first reported Saturday that Collie was by the San Francisco 49ers, . The former Indianapolis Colts slot receiver couldn't make the 49ers' roster on a crowded, if flawed, depth chart, but he tweeted that he isn't giving up on football.
The 49ers also cut Chad Hall, Lavelle Hawkins and Kassim Osgood, leaving Anquan Boldin, Kyle Williams, Quinton Patton, Marlon Moore and Jon Baldwin on San Francisco's receiver depth chart to start the season. Mario Manningham and Michael Crabtree will start the season on the reserve/physically unable to perform list.
Longtime 49ers long snapper Brian Jennings, according to CSN Bay Area, and the team later tweeted to the 13-year veteran.
