Philadelphia Eagles center Cam Jurgens provided another file for the "NFL players don't have normal jobs" folder.
During a recent interview with the , Jurgens detailed the back injury he suffered during the Eagles' 2024 Super Bowl run, noting that the disk "broke off and got wrapped around my sciatic nerve, so it was just like suffocating my leg."
"It was hard to walk," Jurgens said, . "I don't know how I was playing. It was easily the worst month of my life, but also the best month of my life because we won the Super Bowl."
Jurgens didn't miss a full game during the playoff run but was clearly in pain. He underwent surgery in 2025 and was never fully himself. He played in 15 games, including Philly's playoff loss to San Francisco last season.
"It takes a good year to come back from that," Jurgens said of his 2025 surgery. "I'm starting to feel really good."
Jurgens' injury was one of several Philly dealt with last season, leading to questions about the future of the group, with Lane Johnson and Landon Dickerson rumored to be considering retirement. However, both decided to return for at least one more run at another Lombardi. The expectation in the 2026 draft is that the Eagles will select potential future starters to eventually take over.
While the brutal injury caused Jurgens, who inked a contract extension last offseason, to consider his career longevity "a little bit," the 26-year-old didn't indicate any intention of walking away soon.
"I love football, and I want to play as long as I can and hopefully just keep playing in Philly," Jurgens said. "There aren't too many better places to play football than with the Eagles.
"It would just be nice to get through a few contracts. I don't know. We'll figure it out year by year. Right now, I'm playing, and I'm going to play as long as I can."
