A Super Bowl champion is headed to a new NFC contender.
Cornerback Tariq Woolen is signing a one-year deal with the Eagles, NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe reported. The contract is worth a maximum of $15 million, per NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo, and stands as Philadelphia's first free-agent signing of a player outside of the organization in 2026.
The Eagles didn't wait long after to add another outside free agent, signing tight end Johnny Mundt, who was released Monday by the Jaguars, Garafolo reported.
Woolen leaves Seattle after four seasons with the Seahawks for another recent champion in the Eagles, a team that could use his freakish athleticism to form an imposing cornerback tandem with Quinyon Mitchell. Philadelphia spent much of 2025 attempting to hide a lack of depth in its secondary by tossing the likes of Adoree' Jackson and Kelee Ringo into the lineup opposite Mitchell while utilizing Cooper DeJean as its nickel back, revealing a weakness in the secondary.
Ultimately, the Eagles managed a 13th-place ranking in total defense and a top-eight finish against the pass, but it was clear they needed reinforcement at corner, especially with Jackson headed to free agency. By most metrics, Woolen represents an upgrade.
Woolen's early season struggles inspired rumblings of a potential demotion from the starting lineup in September, especially with backup Joshua Jobe performing more consistently than the former fifth-round pick and earning deserved public praise from coach Mike Macdonald. Woolen saw his playing time decrease and starting role disappear in the final month of the season, but ultimately rounded into form well enough to play an important part in the Seahawks' run to their Super Bowl LX triumph over the Patriots.
Woolen hasn't quite matched the production of his Pro Bowl rookie season (16 passes defensed, six interceptions, 63 tackles) in the last three years, but possesses the physical tools that make him a persistently appealing option. He found a new home on the second day of the league's negotiating window, where the Eagles aim to remain a top-10 unit under veteran defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.
