Jahri Evans said earlier this month:
It finally came.
The free-agent guard is signing with the Green Bay Packers, a source informed of the situation told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old Evans parted ways with the Saints this offseason after spending 11 years with the club that chose him in the fourth round of the 2006 .
Evans started all 16 games for New Orleans last year and finished as the 36th-ranked player at his position, per Pro Football Focus.
Green Bay has a need at the position after losing right guard T.J. Lang to the Lions. Instead of having to burn a draft pick on a lineman, the Packers will allow Evans to fend off the likes of Don Barclay, Kyle Murphy and Lucas Patrick for the starting role.
At his age, Evans is a patch, but a more reliable one than anything on the roster. He's got enough left in the tank to give Green Bay a season's worth of help.
