The Tennessee Titans will travel the rest of the way without their starting quarterback.
Coach Mike Munchak confirmed Monday that Jake Locker suffered a in to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
"I know how depressed he is," Munchak told reporters of Locker, who's made just 18 starts in his first three NFL seasons.
As the Titans ponder surgery options for Locker, Ryan Fitzpatrick will take over at quarterback with Rusty Smith at the No. 2 spot.
Durability has been an issue for Locker, who was injured after Jaguars linebacker Russell Allen tackled him following an eight-yard run. Two plays later, Locker hobbled off the field and right out of Tennessee's season. He missed two games earlier this year with a hip injury and made just because of a shoulder injury.
Asked Monday if Locker is injury-prone and whether the Titans need to explore alternatives under center, Munchak called the topic a "nice February discussion."
We imagine those chats will swallow up many winter hours in Rocky Top. There's plenty to like about Locker's play, but he can't stay on the field, and the Titans are paying the price for the second year in a row.
