Josh Morgan signed a Monday with the Chicago Bears, the team announced. His arrival will bolster a top-heavy wide receiving corps.
Morgan, who spent the past two seasons with the Washington Redskins, is expected to battle for the No. 3 spot. After the BearsEarl Bennett in March, Morgan will add some essential depth to the trio of Marquess Wilson, Eric Weems and Chris Williams, who had a combined three receptions last season.
A part-time starter in 2013, the 6-foot-1, 220-pound receiver collected 20 catches and a career-low 214 receiving yards. However, with Ìý²¹²Ô»å Alshon Jeffery certain to garner most of Jay Cutler's aerial targets, Morgan's value will come into play more in the Bears' return game.
The 28-year-old Virginia Tech product has massive shoes to fill on special teams, as Devin Hester and his NFL-record 19 return touchdowns . In 12 kick returns and eight punt returns last season, Morgan failed to reach the end zone.
