It's one and done for Matt Leinart in Upstate New York.
The former first-round draft pick tweeted Friday that he's been by the Buffalo Bills just five days after being brought in to serve as a patch under center. The team later announced the move.
With EJ Manuel sidelined with a knee injury and Kevin Kolb's career in question, Leinart was wheeled out for a generous portion of Thursday night's to the Detroit Lions. A stranger to Buffalo's playbook, he showed no ability to sustain drives. His 3-of-10 passing outing for just 11 yards included two interceptions that helped the Lions mount a 35-3 halftime lead.
"Tough game. Tough situation. No excuses. (Thank) you to the Bills organization!" Leinart wrote Friday, before deleting the tweet.
The game was a reminder of why Leinart hasn't started since 2011. After fizzling out with the Oakland Raiders, Houston Texans and, initially, the Arizona Cardinals, who selected him No. 10 overall in the 2006 , the former USC glory boy probably is done in the NFL.
UPDATE: That's not all out of Buffalo. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport cited a source Friday in reporting that the , who was talked about as a possible replacement for the injured Stephon Gilmore. The Bills also , their 2012 fifth-round draft pick, per Rapoport. The Bills later announced the release of both players.
