The New York Jets' defense has given up more touchdown passes than any team this season. They are pace to break the league record for the fewest takeaways.
That makes this against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson still has some of that .
"You've got to make sure that, when you're getting up close to him, you wrap him up," Wilkerson said Thursday via ESPNNewYork. "We know that he has poor ball security as well, so get after the ball when we get close to him."
Roethlisberger has six fumbles this season and 15 fumbles in his last 25 games, so Wilkerson has a point. Then again, Roethlisberger also has 12 touchdowns in last and he's going against a secondary led by cornerbacks Marcus Williams and Josh Thomas. Williams is and Thomas was signed "off the street" a month ago before making his Jets debut last week.
"We have some guys that can play," Ryan said this week. "They all can play."
The worse that his defense looks, the more confident Ryan and his charges become.
