When the Chicago Bears hired Mike Martz as offensive coordinator, they hired an entirely new way of thinking about offense. They needed players that were a fit for Martz's unique and quite possibly outdated system. They let Martz influence their personnel decisions.
This is especially true at quarterback. Martz hand-picked Idaho's Nathan Enderle, for example, in the fifth round last year.
Now that Martz is gone, Enderle is, too. The team waived the second-year player after its minicamp concluded Thursday. The move makes sense, and is a reminder of how drastically the Bears' stable of backups has improved this year.
