NFL players, teams celebrate MLB Opening Day 2026

A day after the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants led off the 2026 Major League Baseball season on Netflix, 2026 Opening Day began the season in full.

From Jim Thorpe to Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders, with the likes of John Elway, Patrick Mahomes and Kyler Murray in between, there is a long history of NFL players getting drafted by major league teams or even playing in the bigs.

On Wednesday, New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston, once drafted by MLB's Texas Rangers, was in attendance for the Yankees' win.

Whether it was Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love throwing out the first pitch at the Chicago White Sox-Milwaukee Brewers game or NFL teams wishing well their MLB city counterparts, NFL eyes were on the big leagues Thursday.
