The Green Bay Packers received a nice Christmas gift on Thursday from an NFC North rival.
The Packers clinched a spot in the NFC playoffs following the Lions' 23-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, which also eliminated Detroit from postseason contention.
Green Bay, set to host the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night, returns to the postseason for a third consecutive season and a sixth time in seven seasons under head coach Matt LaFleur.
The Packers are , but one win over the next two weeks by the Bears or one loss by Green Bay gives the division and a home playoff game to Chicago.
Thursday's loss caps a disappointing season for Dan Campbell's Lions, who fall to to 8-8 and will miss the playoffs after back-to-back division titles.
