RENTON, Wash. -- The Seahawks are moving on, still without starting outside linebacker Leroy Hill.
Seahawks president and general manager Tim Ruskell said Monday the team is having "just conversations" with Hill's agent on a possible long-term contract.
Seattle hours after it selected outside linebacker fourth overall in the NFL draft Saturday. That made Hill a free agent instead of guaranteeing him $8.3 million in Seattle.
Ruskell said the move gives the team flexibility to sign other veteran free agents.
The , who was released last month by Carolina in a salary-cap move, on Monday. The 30-year-old played his first four NFL seasons with Seattle from 2001-04.
