Texans make Ka'imi Fairbairn highest-paid kicker in NFL with two-year, $13 million extension

The NFL's most productive kicker in 2025 is now its highest-paid kicker.

The Houston Texans have agreed to a two-year, $13 million extension with Ka'imi Fairbairn, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday, per sources. The extension moves Fairbairn into the top compensation spot among all kickers.

The deal secures Houston's reliable kicker through the 2028 season, giving him an extended runway with the only team he's known in his NFL career. It also sets a new benchmark for a higher-profile negotiation between the Dallas Cowboys and restricted free agent Brandon Aubrey, who received a second-round tender on Saturday and remains unsigned.

Fairbairn was prolific in 2025, converting 44 of 48 field goal attempts -- both league-high marks -- for a Houston team that relied on him to ensure stalled drives still produced points. It's become a familiar role for Fairbairn of late: In 2024, he attempted 42 field goals, succeeding on 36 tries.

Undrafted out of UCLA in 2017, Fairbairn has spent his entire career in Houston, appearing in 138 games and converting 87.6 percent of his field goal attempts. He's been especially effective in the 40-49 yard range over the last four seasons, nailing 31 of 33 tries since the start of the 2022 season.

Fairbairn's career-best year earned him a new deal. With Aubrey still unsigned, we'll see how long he remains the highest-paid boot in the NFL.
