The Dallas Cowboys received good news on the state of Tony Romo's sore ribs.
Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones said X-rays on Romo's rib area came back negative Monday, and a team source told NFL Media's Albert Breer that the quarterback has . So the quarterback is expected to be on the field Sunday for Dallas' against the Kansas City Chiefs.
"We feel optimistic with the tests coming back negative," Jones in Dallas. "He'll be sore but something he'll be able to play with, as it looks right now."
Romo was temporarily forced out of the Cowboys' Sunday night after taking a double shot from New York Giants pass rushers Mathias Kiwanuka and Justin Trattou. Romo missed one snap before halftime, but he returned for the start of the third quarter.
The injury summoned memories of two years ago, when Romo was slowed by a punctured lung and a broken rib. It's now clear Romo's newest injury is far less serious.
The Cowboys can breathe easy, even if their quarterback still can't.
