INDIANAPOLIS -- Miami edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr.'s arm length might be a hot topic in 2026 NFL Draft media circles, but Bain said on Wednesday that NFL clubs don't appear too focused on the matter.
"None of the teams seem to be too concerned with it," Bain said at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. "I will just talk the talk and walk the walk … Nobody is really asking me about it."
Bain, the ACC Defensive Player of the Year for 2025, led the Hurricanes to a spot in the College Football Playoff title game and was a force in the postseason, with five sacks in three playoff games. He's expected to be a high pick in April's draft.
But Bain's reported arm length -- expected to be around 31 inches -- has been a talking point since his spring measurements first surfaced. Bain's position group will officially measure on Thursday in Indy, which will reveal his true numbers. Generally speaking, 33 inches is considered the cutoff before arm length is considered suboptimal in the NFL.
To Bain, the arm-length talk has been baffling, especially after a decorated college career during which he racked up 33.5 tackles for loss, 20.5 sacks and four forced fumbles in 38 career games (36 starts).
"I didn't hear it until later in the year, but it kind of surprised me because I never heard it all my life," he told reporters on Wednesday. "I don't give it the time of day, honestly."
New Titans head coach Robert Saleh was asked about Bain on Tuesday and had mostly glowing things to say about the pass rusher, adding that there could be an adjustment required -- perhaps a hint at the arm-length debate.
"(Bain's) tape is undeniable," Saleh said during his combine news conference. "His football IQ is off the charts. There are certain things he'll have to adjust to, but he's a guy that should have a lot of success in the league."
Bain said Wednesday he'd love to team up again with former Miami teammate and current Titans QB Cam Ward. Earlier this month, Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons campaigned for the team to draft Bain, and though he said he's not focused on going as high as he can, Bain said going to the Titans would be "a hell of an opportunity."
The Titans will select fourth overall in the draft, and Bain, currently NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah's No. 6 prospect, believes his formal meeting this week with the Titans went great.
"Hopefully, everything holds up the right way," Bain said. "The interaction with them was great … we killed on one end, just left with the right mindset."
Asked what specifically made that meeting so great, Bain said: "I felt like it was my energy. My energy, my football IQ. I came in knowing what to talk about and what to say.
"Knowing football like the back of my hand, knowing football like my last name. Just go out and connect really well because we all talk ball."
Especially when the talk isn't about arm length.
