With the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics nearly two years away from featuring flag football for the first time, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has made it known that he would like to grow the game.
"I've always wanted to play in the Olympics," Burrow said this week at the Fanatics Flag Football Classic press conference, via . "I've never necessarily played an Olympic sport before, so when this got announced, I was pretty excited about it.
"The opportunity to win a gold medal (is) something that I've thought about -- a moment like that -- for a long time, since I was a kid. I think it would be something very special."
Burrow, 29, is one of many star NFL players competing in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic on Saturday, an event that was relocated from Saudi Arabia to Los Angeles amid the war in Iran.
The event's matchup features the U.S. national team and the two teams comprised of current and former NFL players, Wildcats FFC and Founders FFC. Both the Wildcats FFC and Founders FFC will be taking on the U.S. flag football team in a five-on-five, round-robin tournament format.
Wildcats FFC will be captained by Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels and Burrow with Kyle Shanahan as their head coach while Founders FFC features Tom Brady and Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts with Sean Payton commanding the sideline.
Whether Burrow competes in the 2028 flag football games remains uncertain, but Saturday's Fanatics event provides a slight preview.
