Philadelphia's secondary continues to undergo changes ahead of the 2026 season.
The Eagles are sending safety Sydney Brown to the Atlanta Falcons in a trade that includes a swap of multiple late-round draft picks, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo reported Friday, per sources.
Philly will receive fourth- (No. 114) and sixth-round (No. 197) picks in the 2026 draft from Atlanta in exchange for Brown, a fourth-rounder (No. 122) and a sixth-rounder (No. 215), per The Insiders.
Following Brown's trade to Atlanta, Rapoport reported that the Eagles are bringing back safety Marcus Epps and have agreed to terms with veteran safety J.T. Gray. Both are one-year deals, per Rapoport.
A third-round pick in 2023, Brown made nine total starts in three seasons with the Eagles. He's totaled two interceptions, two forced fumbles, five pass break-ups and 86 tackles in 42 games.
The Falcons add experienced depth to their secondary with the acquisition of Brown, who joins a talented secondary in Atlanta that includes starters Jessie Bates and Xavier Watts on the back end. Brown's versatility will allow defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich to use him in multiple ways in coverage, and the 26-year-old cut his teeth in the NFL as a sure-tackling special teamer.
Brown's exit, the re-signing pf Epps and the addition of Gray are the latest changes to a secondary that saw starting safety Reed Blankenship head to Houston via free agency.
The Eagles signed Tariq Woolen this offseason to shore up their cornerback unit alongside Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.
